The show opens the AEW: Dynamite open and pyrotechnics. Our commentary team welcomes us and running down the card.

We see a promo video for our first match, Cody vs Sammy Guevara.

Cody w/ Brandi Rhodes vs Sammy Guevara

  • Cody comes out with just Brandi, and he gets fire and pyro. These fans are super hot and excited. This kicks off with some lock ups, then Sammy shows off with some athletic moves and dodges. This starts somewhat slow but the fans are hot as they chant “Sammy sucks” and they boo anything Guevara does. Cody gets a figure four leg lock on and Sammy gets to the ropes, the fans boo. They then chant “Let’s go Cody.” Cody dodges Guevara and hits an Oscutter, the same move that Will Ospreay uses. Then moments later Guevara hits one off the top rope. Guevara is kicked off the apron and Brandi yells at him on the floor. Cody goes to dive on Sammy but Guevara pulls Brandi in the way. Cody hits his wife as she pounds into the barrier behind her. About a minute later Brandi Rhodes gets her own back as she slaps Sammy who is leaning on the ropes. Cody hits a disaster kick but Sammy kicks out at two. Cody hits a reverse superplex for a nearfall. Cody climbs to the top rope and Sammy jumps straight up to the top rope and hits a Spanish fly for a really good nearfall. Cody wins when he gets the knees up on a shooting star press and rolls Sammy up. Winner: Cody in 11:52.

Tony Schiavone goes to interview Cody but Sammy interrupts to shake Cody’s hand. But then Jericho attacks Cody as they go to break.

During the break, Jericho hits one more Codebreaker on Cody, goes to leave, but then goes back to the ring and hits Cody with the Championship. Jericho steals a cameraman’s hand held camera and takes photos of Cody and himself. Jericho then hits Cody with a chair at ringside as we come back live. Jericho powerbombs Cody on two chairs. Chris Jericho walks up the ramp and, on a microphone, tells up that he is Chris Jericho and he is “le Champion” in a French accent. Then says “You’re welcome” as he leaves.

Next up, Brandon Cutler vs MJF.

Brandon Cutler vs Maxwell Jacob Friedman

  • MJF cuts a promo on the way to the ring, getting lots of heat. As the match starts Cutler gets a few bits in but is cut off as MJF starts to work the arm of Cutler. Cutler hits a dive and rolls MJF back in. Cutler stumbled on the top rope, allowing MJF to get an armbar on, submitting Cutler early. Winner: MJF in 2:57.

We go to break as the AEW: Dynamite music plays. Justin Roberts tells the fans that after the broadcast there will be extra matches just for the live crowd.

Jay and Silent Bob are at ringside and they speak to Chris Van Vliet. Angelico and Jack Evans make there way down and start yelling at them. Private Party seem to help out Jay and Bob.

SCU vignette claiming that Washington DC is the Worst Town they have ever been in. SCU then speak to Tony Schiavone on the stage about the Tag tournament. Lucha Brothers interrupt and say they are the best tag team in the universe, then SCU shouts “SCU” and they brawl on the stage.

We go to break and Justin Roberts asks the fans “You guys having fun yet?” And the fans cheer. Roberts welcomes “the legendary Earl Hebner”.

We are welcomed back and Jim allows us to eavesdrop on a conversation between Jericho and his tag partners. Nothing much was said.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs “The BASTARD” PAC

  • When PAC comes out JR says “The man that gravity forgot”, then it went silent, I’m assuming he can’t use that anymore. We go to break before the bell so PAC leaves the ring to stall for the ad break. PAC teases getting in the ring as fans boo and shout at him. We come back live and the bell rings so PAC runs in the ring. They trade shots early on and the fans cheer and boo along. Hangman hits PAC with a huge lariat, flipping him around. They brawl to ringside and Page throws PAC into the barrier, then hitting a dive on PAC, sending him into the barrier again. Page hits a fall-away slam and a standing moonsault. PAC takes over and sends Page to ringside. PAC hits a very nice moonsault dive on Page then a 450 splash for a nearfall. PAC goes up top but Hangman rolls away. PAC hits a dropkick in the corner and shouts “He’s done” but Page meets him there. Page hits an avalanche fall-away slam. PAC sends Page into the ring post as we go to ad break. During the break PAC throws Hangman around at ringside. PAC hits a missile dropkick then chokes Hangman on the ropes. We come back from break and PAC taunts Hangman so Page fires up. Page hits a spinebuster and a pop-up powerbomb for a two. PAC rolls away and Page hits a great moonsault to the floor. PAC reverses a Buckshot Lariat and nearly hits Earl Hebner. PAC low blows Hangman with a backwards heel kick, hits the Black Arrow then locks in the Brutalizer for the win. Winner: PAC in 13:01.

AEW Women’s Championship Match – Nyla Rose vs Riho

  • As Riho makes her way into the ring, we go to break. The referee makes the checks on both women and the AEW music plays again. Justin Roberts makes the official ring announcements, saying that this bout has no time-limit. The bell sounds as Nyla runs at Riho. Riho dodges at first, using her speed and agility to gain advantage. Nyla hits a shoulder tackle and splashes Riho. Riho bridges up, out of the pin, to a big ovation. Nyla beats down Riho as commentary plugs AEWTix.com. Riho fights back but everything Nyla does looks and sounds brutal. Riho sends Nyla to ringside and jumps off the top rope but Nyla catches Riho in an incredible spot. Nyla keeps looking for weapons under the ring, which she then piles up. With Riho laid on the pile of chairs, Nyla dives off the apron but Riho moves and Nyla Rose crashes on the chairs and her back. Riho gets Nyla in a crossface. Nyla gets out but Riho keeps fighting. Riho goes for a crucifix but Nyla drops down. Nyla drapes Riho on the ropes and delivers a diving knee from the top rope and Riho kicks out. The place explodes for Riho. Nyla goes for a powerbomb as the break ends. Riho rolls up Nyla and Nyla kicks out, the fans go nuts. Nyla nearly kills Riho with a Death Valley driver, the fans go nuts. Riho hits a avalanche northern lights, the fans go nuts. Riho hits multiple knees as fans chant “AEW” and “This is Awesome”. Then Riho pins Nyla Rose and fans are elated. Michael Nakazawa comes to the ring to talk to Riho. Nyla beats up Nakazawa and powerbombs him. Kenny Omega saves his friend and former tag partner, Riho. Winner: Riho in 13:26.

Main event time!

Kenny and The Bucks come out to the Being the Elite theme as “The Elite, The The Elite” sounds throughout the arena. Nick asks “Who wants my brother Matt throw his t-shirt out?” And “Who’s having a good time here tonight?” Matt asks Kenny if he got the voicemail and Kenny responds with “We’re just getting started”

The Elite vs Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz

  • This starts fast. A few minutes in, after a couple of superkicks by the Bucks and dives, Kenny goes for a Rise of the Terminator dive, Moxley shows up and attacks Omega. Omega and Moxley brawl all over the arena, which isn’t a DQ, and after nearly five minutes Moxley gives Omega a double arm DDT through a glass table. WTF. This whole time, The Buck are being beaten down in the ring and at ringside. Jericho asks “who threw a weiner in the ring?” On the microphone. The trio beat down Matt Jackson until after the last break of the show. Jericho goes for a lionsault but Matt gets the knees up. This continues as a two-on-three. Matt hits a triple northern lights on Ortiz and Santana then tags his brother, Nick. Nick Jackson runs wild but moments later, Nick is cut off with a Codebreaker when The Bucks go for a Meltzer Driver. Jericho hits Judas Effect on Matt for the win. Winners: Jericho, Ortiz and Santana in 12:28.

After the match they beat down the Young Bucks. Cody comes to save the Bucks, Sammy Guevara comes out and attacks Cody, Dustin Rhodes runs down to help, but then Jake Hager(formerly known as Jack Swagger) makes his AEW debut and we seem to have a faction. Jericho, Ortiz, Santana, Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager. The heels celebrate in the ring together and all leave up the ramp to Jericho’s music.

Final Thoughts: Now that was a bloody good show. I fully enjoyed the show and it seemed that the fans in the building did too. That was wild and intense all the way through. I can’t wait for next week!

Best bits in decending order:

  1. Jake Hager debut
  2. Moxley return and the Glass table spot
  3. Riho wins the AEW Women’s championship
  4. PAC defeats Page
  5. SCU and Lucha Bros hype their match
