BUY-IN

The commentary team for the BUY-IN is Alex Marvez and Excalibur.

The show opens with a video package explaining how this show is leading to All Out on August 31st. Then a shot of the local area and a wide shot of inside the venue, leading to the announcers, with Alex Marvez welcoming us. Marvez and Excalibur welcome us and run down the card. We move to our first match.

“The Librarian” Peter Avalon w/ “The Librarian” Leva Bates vs Sonny Kiss

  • Peter and Leva walk out with no music, just boos. Peter says “Hush down” and says he has something to tell us. Then Sonny Kiss interrupted with dancing girls. This is Sonny Kiss’ first singles match in AEW after his appearance in the Battle Royale at Double or Nothing. Sonny Kiss shows his athleticism early on in this match with flips, splits, and high kicks. Avalon sends Kiss to ringside expecting Leva to get involved but she just gently rolls Kiss back in. Kiss wins with a falling splits leg drop from the second rope. Winner: Sonny Kiss in 5:06.

*NOTE: The Fite TV feed drops out but the YouTube feed kept going, so I moved over.

Cody and Dustin Rhodes are being interviewed about The Bucks by a woman who’s name I missed

Britt Baker & Riho vs Bea Priestley & Shoko Nakajima

  • Alex Marvez points out that Riho is 22 and has been wrestling for 13 years. Yes, she was 9 years old. Britt and Nakajima kick the match off. Britt seems to get the best of Shoko early but Shoko fight back with very quick in-and-out then get a tag to Bea Priestley to a big pop. The issue was here, the fans like Bea and wanted to see here, but she’s heel so while getting heat the fans were quiet. Britt got confused and tried to tag Shoko then realised and rolled to the other corner to tag Riho. Shoko and Bea get the heat on Riho for a while then Britt tags in to face Shoko Nakajima. The fans get into the heel and face teams and even had a “Yay-Boo” moment when Riho and Shoko trade shots. Britt and Bea get in the ring, face-to-face and the crowd cheers in anticipation. This gets big reactions. Nakajima sends Britt outside to her partner and dives on them both. They trade big moves, building fantastically. Britt gives Bea a draping DDT but she kicks out. Killer running knees from Riho, followed by a colossal double stomp from the second but another kick out. Shoko Nakajima hits a step up rana with a pin for the win. Good match, started slow but got really good. Winners: Shoko Nakajima and Bea Priestley in 15:37.

*NOTE: First of all, at some point some subtitles came on but it was mostly gibberish. Second, Bea and Britt fought after the match, hopefully to set up a singles match.

Kip Sabian is interviewed about his match against Hangman Page later.

Jim Ross comes out. Jim joins the commentary team and they talk about the card for the final few minutes of BUY-IN time.

Main Show

The commentary team for this show is Jim Ross, Alex Marvez and Excalibur.

Jimmy Havoc, Joey Janela & Darby Allin vs Shawn Spears, Maxwell Jacob Friedman & Sammy Guevara

  • I hope it turns out that MJF is working with Shawn Spears. Allin gets a good reaction, as does Havoc and “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela. MJF and Janela start the match but when Havoc tags in he uses biting, so MJF tries to out wrestle him so Havic shows he can wrestle too. At one point Allin does tag in so Havoc continues to beat down Guevara after Jenela German suplexs him into the corner buckle. Spears tags in and so does Darby Allin. Shawn Spears wants nothing to do with Allin so tags out. The story is that Darby Allin feels overlooked because of what Spears did to Cody after their match. Spears and MJF cannot work together in this because Cody and MJF are best friends. Darby Allin gets a blind tag on Havoc which distracts him. Just after that they all get in and hit big moves, Havoc hits an Acid Rainmaker on MJF then Guevara hits a back breaker on Havoc. Jenela drops Guevara on his neck on the apron with a Death Valley driver then swears at the camera and says “F*** you, Cornette.” Then Spears hits a Death Valley driver in the ring on Darby Allin for the win. Really good match. The finish got the right type of heat. Winners: Shawn Spears, Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Sammy Guevara in 13:15.

Private Party are seen in the crowd the Jabaily trys to join them and gets kicked out by security.

Brandi Rhodes vs Allie

  • As they shake hands, “KONG” sounds as Awesome Kong makes an entrance. Allie is distracted and Brandi jumps her. Brandi controls the match fornthe first few minutes with Awesome Kong at ringside. After about five minutes, Allie finally makes a comeback as the fans chant “let’s go Allie, let’s go Brandi”. Allie gets a nearfall but Kong pulls Brandi’s leg to break up the pin. Allie gets a reverse Dragon Sleeper but Kong gets on the apron so the ref leaves the submission and runs to gets Kong off the apron, the Brandi taps but the ref misses it. Brandi wins with a bionic spear. Winner: Brandi Rhodes in 10:13.

*NOTE: After the match Awesome Kong and Brandi beat down Allie, then Aja Kong comes down to break it up. Aja and Aewsome get face-to-face and Brandi pulls Aewsome Kong away from Aja Kong.

The Dark Order vs Jack Evans & Angelico vs Luchasa & Jungle Boy

  • This match starts fast and gets faster. Jungle Boy gets in a few minutes and runs wild on Evil Uno but Uno puts a stop to that quickly. Luchasaurus tags in and Uno slaps him across the face they tags out to Evans. Evans is thrown far across the ring by the 6ft 5inch Luchasaurus then uppercutted into the corner of the Dark Order. The Datk order spent the next three minutes working over Jungle Boy and when Evil Uno(the masked man) goes up top and you can almost hear people laugh but then he pulls off a senton bomb. I’ve seen Uno pull off some great stuff on other shows. Marko Stunt gets involved and hits a top rope rana on Evans and is ejected from ringside. Luchasaurus picks him up and throws his small friend on Angelico at ringside. Evil Uno pins Jungle Boy with a diving double-team cutter from the top that Excalibur called “Fatality”. Winners: The Dark Order, Stu Grayson and Evil Uno.

Video package for Hangman page vs Kip Sabian.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs Kip Sabian

  • Page looks strong early on but looks to injury his already injured knee. Sabian takes advantage and hits fast offence. On the outside, a fan gets in the face of Sabian and Sabian almost kisses him, hilarious. Kip lands a double stomp on Page which looked very painful. Page belly-to-belly suplexs Kip into the corner but Kip landed on his head. Sabian’s left elbow is bleeding, probably from a hard bump. Kip goes for a stomp on the apron but Page moves and Page drops Sabian on the apron back first. Page hits a huge moonsault and grabs his knee. The announcers ask if there is a backup plan for All Out and the championship match. Back in the ring, Page takes control and powerbombs Sabian over the ropes and onto the ramp connected to the ring. That looked brutal. Then Page hits a swinging neckbreaker from the top rope on Sabian and Kip kicks out. Eventually, Page wins with a Right of Passage just after the 19 minute point. Really good match, good to lead into All Out. Winner: Hangman Page in 19:03.

*NOTE: After the match a Mystery Man attacked Page while wearing a Dark Order mask. The Mystery Man turns out to be Jericho and Page is busted open above the eye.

SoCal Uncensored(Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky vs The Lucha Brothers

  • SCU come out together and get time on the mic, which is always great. Kaz and Fenix start this one. Neither can get or keep the advantage so they tag out and things get heated and referee Aubrey Edwards takes control of the situation. Sky faces off with Penta. Penta yells “Zero Miedo” which translates to “Zero Fear” and Sky shouts “S.C.U.” This spills to ringside and The Lucha Bros chop Daniels and Sky at ringside. Daniels hits an Arabian moonsaults on Penta and Fenix so Aubry kicks him out. It becomes apparent that Fenix may have taken a bad knock when he barely kicks out, then SCU slowly work him over with chinlocks and such. Fenix gets back on track and The Lucha Bros use innovative offense. This got insane and fast. The Lucha Brothers pick up the win with an assist package piledriver on Sky. Winners: The Lucha Brothers in 15:06.

*NOTE: After the match Lucha Bros attack SCU with a ladder and clear the ring. The Lucha Bros climb the ladder with a microphone and call out The Young Bucks for a Ladder match at All Out. This will be for the AAA Tag Championships.

Kenny Omega vs Cima

  • Kenny is going into this match without a win in AEW so far, Cima has a singles win and and one six-man tag loss, so Kenny needs a win here. This gets a “This is Awesome” chant before they even touch, the fans have been loud and into the show so far and are only getting louder as we get into the bigger matches. Kenny starts to speed things up and Cima grabs a submission to slow down Omega. After some back-and-forth, Omega has Cima on the top rope and looks like he’s going for a One Winged Angel but Cima reverses into sunset flip powerbomb onto Kenny’s head and shoulders. Cima goes for the double knees from the top and Omega moves, beginning the attack on Cima’s knees. The action spills to ringside and apparently the big screen turns on to show the action and everyone cheers. Cima hits a Meteora(double knees) on Kenny at ringside on the timekeeper’s table, the on the back on Kenny’s head in the ring, then another and when Cima goes for another to a standing Omega, Kenny catches him and throws Cima into the corner and fights back with a snap dragon. It feels like Cima hit 10,000 Meteoras on Omega but Omega continues to fight. They exchange slaps and forearms, Kenny hits a V-Trigger to the back of the head. Cima continues to fight but one more V-Trigger and Onega hits the One Winger Angel for the win. Winner: Kenny Omega in 22:34.

Chris Jericho with a Live Mic

  • Jericho has a new entrance video that is all writing, one bit says “I AM EVIL” it’s all black and white on opposite sides and looks good. He is still using the Fozzy song “Judas”. Jericho says he has Hangman’s blood on his knuckles. Jericho calls Jacksonville names then says he wants a “thank you” from Cody and company. Jericho cuts a promo on Hangman, basically getting him over. Jericho says he will beat “The Hangman” because he has to beat “The Hangman”. As Jericho is calling “The Hangman” a “Little bitch” Page runs out to attack Jericho. Referees, Peter Avalon, Daniels, Jenela and more run out to break it up. Page’s eye looks really bad, with a cut above the eye and a big, deep bruise underneath. The whole thing went about 10 minutes.

Main Event

The Young Bucks vs Cody & Dustin Rhodes

  • Dustin gets a huge reaction when he comes out. Nick and Cody start the match, they wrestle back-and-forth and Cody extends the hand to shake but it’s kicked away by Nick. Matt and Nick face Cody and Dustin and Matt is sent outside by the classic Rhodes uppercuts. After some quick offence, Cody and Dustin are outside and Matt and Nock hug, pretending to cry. The Bucks are heel in this match and target Dustin about 7 minutes in. Nick spits at Cody as he works over Dustin. Dustin gets a tag a few minutes later and Cody takes it to The Bucks. The match breaks down for a while and the Rhodes come out on top. The Rhodes work over Matt and his left arm. Dustin stomps on Matt in the corner and the referee Rick Knox counts. Dustin trys telling Knox to shut up but Knox is tough and takes no guff. All four men are in the ring and they trade spots. The Bucks get sharpshooters on the Rhodes, Cody and Dustin hits simultaneous uppercuts. Dustin and Cody dive on the Bucks. The Rhodes hit an assisted Cross Rhodes on Matt and both pin Matt but Nick breaks it up with a senton off the top. The Bucks go outside for a break and Cody jumps off the top onto them but the Bucks superkick him out of the air. Cody is in the ring holding his head and The Bucks superkick the back of his head but Dustin breaks the pin up. So much happened, including Matt selling his arm for most of the match buitstill managing to hold Cody for the Meltzer Driver and the win. This started slow but really picked up and turned into a classic tag match. Winners: The Young Bucks in 31:25

*NOTE: After the match Matt made up with The Rhodes Brothers, then Shahid Khan and company comes to the ring holding a giant cheque for $150,000 for the victims of gun violence from the Jacksonville shooting in 2018. Kenny Omega closes the show out with “I must bid you adieu, Goodbye smooch Goodnight, Boing”. And that was that. Another great show, just a bit too long in my opinion. Looking forward to the All Out show.
