NJPW – New Year Dash – Full Results

New Japan Pro Wrestling presents New Year Dash, from Korakuen Hall, January 5th, 2019. This show will see the return of one wrestler, while setting up new feuds and matches. This show is free on njpwworld.

Our commentary team is Kevin Kelly and Chris Charlton.

Suzuki-gun (Davey Boy Smith Jr, Lance Archer & Iizuka) vs Roppongi 3K(SHO, YOH & Rocky Romero)

  • Roppongi 3K fought hard against the much bigger team. Lance Archer and DBS Jr looked great in this match and I don’t know why they don’t get more of a push. Roppongi 3K win this when YOH pins Iizuka with a roll up. Winners: Roppongi 3K

Toa Henare & Tomoaki Honma vs Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens

  • On the way to the ring, Chase explains that he is now just with Yujiro and no longer associated with Hangman Page any more. Also, Henare wants to face his partner here, Honma, at some point. Chase picks up the win on this one when he pins Henare after a package piledriver.

Juice Robinson & Finlay vs Chuckie T & Beretta

  • The referee for this match is Chris Roberts, who refereed the British Heavyweight Championship match yesterday. This was a fun match, until Chuckie T lost his mind, again. Chuckie T has been losing his mind throughout the Tag League in December, last year and hitting everyone with chairs. The same happened here. Chuckie T hits Finlay with a chair for the disqualification. After the match, Chuckie T hit Beretta with more chair shot, threw a chair into the face of Juice and gave Finlay a piledriver on a chair. Winners: By DQ, Juice Robinson and Finlay.

Will Ospreay, Tomohiro Ishii & Hirooki Goto vs Yuji Nagata, Jeff Cobb & KUSHIDA

  • This was a very good match, Ishii and Nagata teased a singles match, so did Goto and Cobb, which I would love to see. Will Ospreay seemed to have an extra spring in his step tonight, after winning the Never Openweight Championship at Wrestlekingdom. This was a fun match, which teased a few singles matches. Will Ospreay pinned KUSHIDA after an Oscutter. Winners: Ospreay, Ishii and Goto.

IWGP Never Openweight Six-man Tag Championship Match – Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Taiji Ishimori vs Toru Yano, Ryusuke Taguchi & Togi Makabe

  • This was a result of the challengers winning a gauntlet match at Wrestlekingdom. Unfortunately for the Challengers, the finish came when Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens ran to the ring to show their allegiance to the Bullet Club. Chase Owens hits Togi Makabe with the package piledriver, which led to Tanga Loa hitting his finisher, the Ape Shit, for the win. Winners: Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Taiji Ishimori.

Suzuki-gun(Taichi, Kanemaru, El Desperado, Zack Sabre Jr & Minoru Suzuki) vs Los Ingobernables De Japon( BUSHI, Taichi, EVIL, Sanada  & Tetsuya Naito)

  • This wasn’t a match, this was a war. Suzuki-gun kicked off the match by jumping LIJ as normal for Suzuki-gun but this time, all eight men were scattered across Korakuen Hall while they brawled. Immediately, Taichi would target the new Intercontinental Champion, Tetsuya Naito. This match was a brawl all the way through as two people would fight in the ring. This fight ended when Taichi pinned the new Intercontinental champion, Tetsuya Naito. Winners: Suzuki-gun.

Gedo, Bad Luck Fale & Jay White vs YOSHI-HASHI, Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi

  • This is the first match back for the returning YOSHI-HASHI, after he received a concussion from a fall while running to the ring. YOSHI-HASHI ran to the ring and slipped over and hit his head on a supporting beam on the ring. This return was a surprise for the audience in attendance at the beginning of the show. This match got a lot of crowd reaction, as Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada, dubbed the dream team, was teaming once again with the returning YOSHI-HASHI. Jay is being booked to be the next big thing in New Japan, and having him face off against the rainmaker and the ace of New Japan is evidence of this. The dream team worked well together, and YOSHI-HASHI looked to be in good shape but Jay White won this match for his team, pinning YOSHI-HASHI with a Bladerunner. After the match Jay White called out Tanahashi, saying he will take Tanahashi’s championship and calling him a “Broken down old man.” When Jay called Tanahashi in the ring to face off with the future, Gedo and Bad Luck Fale jumped Tanahashi from behind. The group now associated with the Bullet Club left Tanahashi and Okada laying after Okada tried to help the ace. Okada fought off all three until he took a Grenade from Fale and Tanahashi took a Bladerunner from Jay White. Winners: Jay WHite, Bad Luck Fale and Gedo.

That was the end of the show, some revolutions on this show, some stories moving forward. New Japan will be back on January 28th for Road to THE NEW BEGINNING. Thanks for reading this and don’t forget you can subscribe for free via email, tweet to me @ProWresMatthew or email me at prowresmatt@gmail.com.
